Caught off guard!

Ya know when you have one of those holy cow...huh/what?!?! didn't see that coming moments... I have Kreg to thank for that today.

So today was awesome! Waking up this morning was a little rough, but I got through it. Work went by so fast! That was good. I came home and had my chill out time for the day then went to the Oval. During my chill out time, though, I kinda got worked up and that was ok because times like that, the only way to get through it is a good run.

Upon walking into the Oval, I noticed the Canada long track national team was still here along with a few other countries. I also saw the short trackers messing with pads on the ice across the way. I figured they were getting off, but word was they were just getting started! That was great!

So I go sit to get my skates on and the Canada team comes and sits and they are putting their skates on. Then the US team shows up and gets their skates on. We all skated together tonight: World record holders, Olympians and club members alike! Nothing can compare to that feeling.

I got off the ice when the short trackers finished their practice because I still needed to do my run. It is amazing the clarity that comes to mind from running. It is a good vent. You can actually run away from your problems and leave them be.

I have short track the next 3 days and then racing on Saturday. I planned on a hard training week, but I think I am just going to enjoy some skating on my blades.

Kinda reminds me of when I volunteered at NBA All-Star weekend when it was here in February. It was pretty cool just being in the same room as all those legends. I can't imagine what it might be like being right along side people like that when you're all doing your thing. Sounds pretty cool :)
