Last night was the middle part of the skating season that matters. The race. It was the third of five races for me. My goal for this season was to do all the short track races, so far 3 for 3. During my last night, I did something I've never done before: 1500 meter. Thirteen and a half laps! The 1000 is 9 laps, and that is like 4 laps too long. The 500 is 4.5 laps, and I like that one! The 1500 is like three 500s. Holy cow!
The first race was good. It was the 1000. I felt I had a good start. It's really been bothering me lately that my starts have been so lame. I've been trying to just go all out... it's just weird. So, with about 5 laps in, I was getting tired. I wanted to pace it out, but I just fell apart and my skating went to the gutters.
The second race was my 500. I felt really good. I just skated and I forgot how many laps I had to go, so as I crossed the line I herd, "k, your done." I was ready to go for like 3 more laps. Apparently my skating was good cause my coach said he wanted to see me skate like that in practice. I felt good and looked good... how's that happen?
My third race was the very much dreaded 1500. Never been done before/didn't ever want to do it. Standing at the line, the gun went off, and I just thought: pace. I didn't care how long it was going to take... I just wanted to finish. About 6 laps in, I was coming around the corner and the next thing I know, I am sitting on the ice. Apparently I fell. I actually just needed a break and wanted to have a seat. I got up and finished and tah-dah! Ouch! My legs were so locked up and jello feeling all at the same time.
All in all, it was pretty good. I dodn't really have any goals lined up for this race. It came kinda fast. The next race is Jan 5. It's the Utah Winter Games in Park City. YAY! I'll be good to go! I think I want to try to skate a 1500 every practice for warm up or cool down till then.
I didn't take any pictures. I am kinda in a burn out stage. Internet is still out at home. I am though coming up with new fun stuff for my website. Designs/colors... just the norm. When the one I have now gets really old, I'll change it up. Till then...
