Concert recap

The Secondhand Serenade concert evening was so great! I started it off by leaving work early to catch some zzzz. Nick (my roomie) came home and being an SS liker too, we went to the show together. It all took place down in Lehi at Thanksgiving Point. We met up with Josh, Burgundy (recently engaged) and a few others in line outside the gate. The gates didn't open till 6:30 and it was around 4:30 when we arrived. Fun in the sun! ...and yes I said sun. It was supposed to rain but did not.

Backing up a few weeks/months Josh has been friends with John (lead singer) and John (bass player) from SS. He has been talking to them to see if he could get up on stage to purpose to Burgundy.

Back to present time: We were sitting on the grass in line and Josh takes Burgundy's ring (that he already gave her sometime ago) and leaves to go talk to the girls at the front of the line telling them that he is going to try to get up on stage to purpose. The girls were all giggly and said that he could cut them so he could get in first and be close to the stage...

I wasn't up for standing all evening and neither was Nick, so we found a spot on the grass in the back and set up camp. By camp, I mean the blanket and backpack full of coats and another blanket. We hung out with Dallas and his group.

It was show time. The first opener was a guy named John Allred. He was a one man band. Just him and his guitar and some high-tech equipment. He played With or Without You and it was amazing! He did all the sounds with his voice and guitar. The song can be heard in the form that he played on his MySpace.

The next performer was a guy and his piano. I don't remember his name, but he was good. This one time he was going to start a new song and apparently these girls in front were just chit-chatting, to that he said, "Shut up, I'm trying to sing." The crowd got a kick out of that.

Soon after there was a hush over the crowd then a loud cheer scream. SS had presented themselves to the lawn of people. The music was great. So loud and just fun. There was one brief moment when John (lead singer) said that he had a friend that he wanted to invite up on stage... The friend: Josh. Josh then invited Burgundy up and *BAM* purposed. The crowd girls were screaming in crazy joy and there were cheers all over the place. The show went on.

It was a nice evening. If you have the chance to see SS, do! I wold totally see them again.

Congrats to Josh and Burgundy for becoming twicely engaged.
