Soft Pretzels

Back in school, the lunch ladies would make pretzels and we would get to buy them for $1 and dip them in pizza sauce. Well here is that loving recipe that is so delicious!!! I am going to make these tomorrow!

Soft Pretzels

1 qt. warm water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. oil
9 c. flour (approx.)
1 heaping tablespoon yeast--rapid rise

Add salt and sugar to warm water. Stir until dissolved. Add oil. Add all of flour, then sprinkle yeast over flour. Stir and knead with hands until soft ball form and dough does not stick to sides of bowl. Let rise til double. About 30-45 minutes.

Pinch off rounds of dough about the size of a lemon. Place on waxed paper or film wrap. Let rise til double. Form a rope about 1/2" in diameter and almost 2 feet long. Place on greased cookie sheet in the form of a pretzel. Spray with water. Let rise til double. Bake at 350 degrees for 5-8 minutes. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse salt. Enjoy!
