I just sat down to enjoy a life long snack that I grew up with and Nick questioned what it was, then made a face once I told him... It was a tortilla with butter warmed up and rolled up. It is so good and doesn't taste how you'd think it would. That got me to thinking about how pretty much my whole life people have severely questioned my food combination. To my parents this may sound normal (so don't judge).
...in addition to the warm buttery tortilla
My mother always ate this.
- cheese, bologna & ketchup sandwich
My father's choice sandwich. this is pretty much all I ate and still do. Everyone thinks ketchup on a sandwich is gross... what about hamburgers? That is a sandwich! It's not different either! It's cheese, meat and ketchup.
- mac & cheese with spaghetti sauce
I don't remember how this started, but I know it was just in the last 10 years. The kids that I used to babysit loved to try my food combos and to this one Sarah said, "I will never be able to eat macaroni and cheese without spaghetti sauce again." It may look funny in color (with the orange cheese and red sauce), but it is mighty tasty.
- fries & ice cream
Wanna go million dollar: fries, chocolate frosty & ketchup. This is also another snack the kiddies liked. The best way to eat it and enjoy every bite is to get 2 fries. Dip one in ketchup and the other in the chocolate frosty. Take a bite of both at the same time and ta-da! Melt worthy.
- chocolate chip cookies & salsa
This was an accident. When I was in school at lunch, I had just pick up my chocolate chip cookie and accidentally dropped it in my salsa. I had been looking forward to that cookie and so I just ate it anyways. Amazing! The chocolate and tomato brought out the best in each other. Mmmm. I can only eat 1 maybe 2 cookies in salsa cause the taste is ... kinda rich. But it
- popcorn with lemon pepper
Growing up me and my bro dipped popcorn in everything. Our favorite was soda. Over time we would experiment with different seasonings and I landed on lemon pepper. It is divine. I got my cousin Ashley hooked on this! You have to not breath in when you are eating cause you will choke, and its not the powder sugar choke, it's a spicy choke.
- pb&j with cheese doritos in the middle
When I was younger I did not like lettuce. When I was around adults their food would always crunch. I thought it was cause of lettuce. Therefor I'd put chips on my sandwich for the crunch effect so I would seem older. After a short time I didn't care about why I did it but how it tasted. It was so good. Pb&j wasn't as common as cheese, bologna and ketchup, but it was had and eating the cheese doritos with the grape jelly and the texture of the peanut butter was just cool.
- roman noodles with...
The way I learned to cook roman noodles is different I've found. Water in the pot add the seasoning. When it boils add the noodles and cook for 1 min 30 seconds. Drain all the water and add butter. That is the base. You can then add: scrambled eggs, parmesan cheese, grated cheese or lemon pepper.
So, all in all thoes are just some of the norm food combos that I fix up. I'm not going to say try if you dare... cause it's not daring. It's just good!
