Reality Zapping

Wowza, it's been a while. I have no pictures to post, as I have been taking pictures at work all day long for the past week and probably this whole week into forever. We are slammed! So, ya know when you've known something all along, but time passes and you kinda forget, then you are reminded? That happened yesterday. I went to a place called church. Before you go oh gee... just hold up a sec. Here is what I got from the words that were spoken:

- Look at what you have in front of you.
- Look at the level of life you are at and what you have accomplished (good & bad).

I believe it was back in 95 cause the comet Hale Bop was out, so I was in middle school or there abouts. There was this one night when me and my family were traveling home to Panaca from St George. I was in our green van's backseat looking up at the comet, but I was thinking about how I can play the clarinet. It was just something that I learned to play real quick and boom, there I was years later thinking about it. I had never thought about it before, all I did was just play. I then thought how cool it was that my fingers just automatically knew what to do when they saw a cretin note or musical symbol. It was just so cool to think about. It wasn't something that I showed off, I just played and liked it. I played all through high school (minus the last quarter of my junior year when I quit cause I was mad at the teacher.) and went to festival. Me and 2 others got a superior rating (the best that you can get...and little medals) at festival for some 3 part harmony songs we did. We called ourselves the clara-ken-ekkie trio. That was fun. I haven't played my horn for a few years, but I still remember the fingerings. My cheek and lip muscles are gone. It'd be fun to play again.

Sometimes you need to take a step back and look at your craft. Look at what you have in front of you. Look at the level you have achieved. If you can look at where you are right now and be pleased with yourself, I believe that's saying something. Take pride in what you do. Sometimes I take a picture and think, -Man! That's good! When I skated and glided on my left through a whole corner for the first and second time, I thought, -Now, I am good! When I have a conversation with a group of baseball fans and we talk for a hour, I think -How am I keeping up with this conversation; I must know my stuff! This is awesome!

You're at this level now. Look back at what's you've done. Look ahead as to what you need to do next.

Zap yourself out of reality for a second and look at what you are doing!
